POWER CUSTOMS SERVICES 2008 FOOTY TIPPING COMPETITION

Good Afternoon Tipsters,

The 2008 Power Customs Footy Tipping Competition has ended in a tie, with Peter Gaudion (5) and Jon Onley (6) both ending on 125. In 3rd position was Kevin Chamberlain (5) who was only 1 behind the leaders ending his season on 124. Congratulations to these 3 gentleman!!

Unfortunately for Arve Boce (4), who led for most of the season, he has finished in outright 4th on 123. Terry Burns (7) and Andy King (4) finished in a tie for 5th on 121. As for the rest of us, we were simply not good enough in season 2008 and will have to have a good solid pre-season to come back in 2009 firing on all cylinders.

Friday night kicked off with the WORST game of football I have possibly ever seen, with Collingwood playing the most PATHETIC game in quite some time, to be defeated by Fremantle, who were not much better, to not only cost themselves the chance of a top 4 spot, but now lose a home final and all but end any chance they had of making the big stage at the end of September. Please, please, please bring back Didak and H Shaw. As a member and supporter, I don’t give a stuff if they have been told that their 2008 season is over, we have a final to win this weekend and without these 2 players, and the form we showed last week, book yourselves in for Mad Monday on the 8/9, as we have no chance!

The biggest upset of the weekend came on Saturday, when the Power ended their season on a high note, to demolish North Melbourne by 76 points and like Collingwood, cost themselves a top 4 spot. While over at AAMI Stadium, Adelaide were able to defeat the Western Bulldogs in a tight tough contest. At the time Adelaide were over the moon, believing that they had the double chance in the bag and a showdown with Geelong the following week, boy, how wrong we were!

Down at Geelong , West Coast were thumped by the Cats to the tune of 99 points and the Cats now enter the 2008 finals series as the shortest priced favourites in the history of the game.

Saturday night at the SCG, saw Sydney re-capture some winning form and end Leigh Matthews’ reign as the Brisbane Lions coach with a loss. Sydney , despite their poor recent form, have now found themselves with a home final next week, boy oh boy, how lucky they are..

The most anticipated game of the round was Saturday night at the Telstra Dome, with the Fev v Buddy show on display. And it took no longer then a quarter for Lance Franklin to bring up his 100th goal of the year and wasn’t it great to see the crowd invade the ground and celebrate this tremendous achievement!

At the other end of the ground, Fev fell 1 short of brining up his ton, which to some was a shame, but to others was just bad luck.. I personally take the stiff cheddar approach to this one Fev and enjoy another year of no finals action for you pal… sorry to those who I may have offended. Oh, by the way, Hawthorn flogged Carlton , by plenty…

Yesterday at the G, provided Richmond supporters with plenty of hope for next year after they smashed Melbourne and ended a year for the Dees that they would like to forget. At least they will have the no. 1 pick next year and can build their list up with some good young players for a bright future at Melbourne .

The last game of the round, provided the biggest thumping I have seen for quite some time, with St.Kilda belting Essendon, and moving themselves from 8th position to 4th, and receive the double chance. Essendon certainly did Adelaide no favours here and wasn’t that good to see!!! The win by over 100 points was the biggest score kicked by the Saints since Ross Lyon has headed the club, so some good signs for them heading into next weeks game.

Looking ahead to next week and Friday night kicks off with the 2nd placed Hawks taking on the 3rd placed Western Bulldogs at the MCG.

Saturday afternoon over at AAMI Stadium sees the Adelaide Crows tackle Collingwood, in a do or die elimination final..

Saturday evening up at ANZ Stadium sees the second elimination final as the Sydney Swans take on North Melbourne and the last game of the first week of the finals has the no. 1 team in the competition Geelong taking on St.Kilda at the MCG in the second qualifying final.

Well folks, that is it for the 2008 season and how quickly has it gone?? I can’t believe it is September already!

A lot of people will tell you that the real season starts now, but for the tipping competition it has ended and I will be back in 2009 to do it all again!

So until then, good luck if your team is still going and I wish you all the best!

PS: to those who have won money throughout the season, I will be making contact with you shortly, to ensure you receive your winnings.
